Biography

Isaac was born to Nathan and Ellen Hubbard Davis early in the year 1756. [1] He was their second child to be named Isaac - the first having died in early childhood. [2]

He enlisted several times to serve in the military against the British in the Revolution. [3]   [4]   [5]

Near the end of the Revolution Mary Crowell (1760–1837) caught his eye and the couple was married on 28 June 1789 in Hardwick, Massachusetts. [6] [7]

The couple moved from Rutland, Massachusetts to what was then Packersfield, later Nelson, in the southwest corner of New Hampshire. There they became the parents of several children:
Susanna Davis Esty 1790–1868 [8]
Isaac Davis 1792–1875 [9]
Joshua Davis 1795–1862 [10]
Roxana Davis 1797–1807 (Died Young) [11]
Jonathan Davis 1799–1807 (Died Young) [12]
Bathsheba Davis 1802 - [13]

In 1812, the town of Nelson ceded lands which included Isaac's farm and pastures in a valley of Bald Hill in order to build a new town which was named Roxbury. [14]   [15]   [16]

In his will, dated 18 February 1832, Isaac bequeaths several head of both cattle and sheep to his wife and surviving children. He died about four years later and was buried in the family plot in the Hillside Cemetery in Roxbury. [17]
