George died in 1969 at the age of 85 from a cerebrovascular incident due to arteriosclerosis. At the time of his death he was living at the Red Oak Nursing Home in Michigan City, LaPorte, Indiana. He was a retired laborer with the Pullman Standard Car Co in LaPorte County, Indiana. He had never married.
