Mary was born in 1737. She is the daughter of John Davis and Elizabeth Maxon. She passed away in 1785.
John accompanied his parents to Westerly, Rhode Island about the year 1710, where he was admitted to membership in the Westerly Seventh Day Baptist Church in June 1713. There he married Elizabeth.
John submitted a bill for making a coffin for Elizabeth's grandfather, indicating he was "joyner Davis."
The Westerly Church called John Davis to ordination as a gospel minister in 1743, a request which he declined. Soonafter he moved his family to Shrewsbury, New Jersey where he joined his father and other relatives in organizing the Shrewsbury Church. After the death of his father, the church called him to ordination, 19 June 1746.
called "Squam" - short for Manisquam, or Manasquan. Manasquan was first settled as a part of Shrewsbury in the late 1600's. It takes its name, Man - A - Squaw - Han (stream of the Island of Squaws) from the Lenni Lenape Indians who were summer visitors there for hundreds of years.
