Research Notes

Lucy's father John Davison died at Falmouth in 1799. His Last Will and Testament, in which the bulk of the estate went to his son Nathaniel, was contested by the daughters. It was alleged that Nathaniel had improperly influenced the writing of this will (or worse). A hearing was held and it appears much of the allegations were upheld, as a significant redress was imposed on Nathaniel, with additional monetary compensation having to be paid to Grace (Lewis Payzant), Elizabeth (George Stewart), and Lucy (John Cannon), and Nathaniel was required to maintain his brother James for life.

John Davison, Last will and Testament, dated May 1793 at Falmouth, Hants, Nova Scotia. [1] Estate Inventory was recorded in 1799 at Falmouth. [2]

The Will was challenged in court and significant redress was ordered, whereby Nathaniel Davison was required to compensate his siblings: 1799 at Falmouth, Hants County: [3]

Davison-1955 and Davison-140 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same Lucy Davison who married John Cannon
