Notes: A descendant of Minter['s] has papers showing Mary Louisa's name both as Davidson and Davisson. I have used Davisson because that's the way she signed her name on some of the papers.
Mary Louisa Davisson married first to Irving Bailey, son of Minter Bailey, Jr. and Sallie (Sarah) Bastable. He died in March 1870 and Mary is found as a new widow with 2 sons, Robert M. and Irvin G. on the 1870 Census for Weston, Lewis Co, WV.
She is also found on the 1880 Census, Weston, Lewis Co, WV with only her son Robert, her other son having died in October 1870.
Her son Robert Bailey (d/o/d unknown) if living, would have been about 31 years old when Mary Louisa married Minter Jackson in 1894. Mary married her first husband's cousin when she married Minter Jackson, as Minter's mother, Hannah Bailey, and Irving's father, Minter Bailey Jr., were siblings, children of Minter Bailey Sr. and Nancy Norris.

Note HI313(Research):In the 1860 Harrison County (W)VA census (M653, R1351, p837) I found a George Davisson, a 46 year-old farmer with Real estate of 00; Personal estate of 00. This means he was born ca 1814 and would therefore have been old enough to be the father of Mary Louisa Davisson, who was born in 1839. PERHAPS he was Granville George Davisson and PERHAPS Charlotte Despard had died, as he seems to be married to Elizabeth A, who is only 33 years old. Children in the household are Caroline, 16 Granville (!!!), 13 John, 10 Andrew, 7 Sarah J, 3 All were born in (W?)VA. Mary Louisa may already have left home and married Irving Bailey. There are a total of ca 20 heads of household named Davisson in Harrison Co in 1860. There are 7 in Doddridge Co. One is a "Grand" Davisson, 37 with property valued at 0 (real) and 0 (personal). He has a wife, May, 30. Children: I.? I.?, 10 Male JT 8 M Columbus 5 M L 4 F In Tarylor Co., at Pruntytown, there must be another cousin: Joshua N. 42, farmer, married to Ann, 39, whose 2nd son is named Granville, age 14, and whose 3rd daughter (b ca 1852) is a Mary. Also they are living next door to a Joseph and Sally Bailey, both age 48. They have an 8 year old dtr named Mary A. Also in Taylor is James Davisson, 39, carpenter, with a son named Minter, age 9. The most prosperous of the Davissons I looked up is Reuben Jr, 38, a farmer with ,400 Real estate, 00 Personal. ++++ Aha, I bet I've found her (I hope)! In 1870 census Weston, Lewis Co., , p385, #127, I've found a Mary L. Bailey, age 29, with a son Robert M, age 7 and another son, age 6. She has 00 Real prop and 00 Personal. She lives almost next door to a lawyer, -- D.M. Bailey, 36, whose oldest son is named Minter. Living nearby in the hotel that had belonged to Minter Bailey, Jr., before he died in 1866 is an R.D. Davisson, 21 (possibly her brother??), who is studying medicine. (Minter Bailey's widow is also living at the hotel.) +++++++++++ In 1880, Mary L., age 40, with son Robert W., 17, a student, live on Main St. in Weston.. By 1880 Douglas M Bailey is a cashier at the bank and Minter, 20, works at the RR Depot. ++++++++ 1890 Census burned up for VA & WV. ++++++++ 1900 Census shows Minter Jackson 75, wholesale merchant, in Smyth Co., VA; Mary L. Jackson, b 1840, 60 years old. They've been married 5 years. Says she's the mother of 0 children, but this seems to have been written in later. Minter Jackson, 20, born 1880 [younger son of Stephen Alonzo Jackson and Mary Cloyd Ernest], is living in Abingdon and "at school." He is living with one T.D. Davidson, 73, (born in VA, father born in Scotland, mother in NC) so I guess he's not really one of the WV Davissons. TDD's wife is Mary [Cloyd] E[rnest]., born Jan 1851 and only 49, so much younger than her husband. Minter Jackson, [Jr.] is shown as son. +++++++++ 1910 Census shows Minter Jackson, 29, retail merchant, living in Abingdon, with his mother, Mary E. Davidson, 58, widow, who has had 2 children, both living. Minter, Jr., got married the following year. ++++++++++ http:/www.jacksonfamilygenealogy.compafn35.htm#116 20060822pph Mary Louisa DAVISSON <pafg35.htm> A descendant of Minter has papers showing Mary Louisa's name both as Davidson and Davisson. I have used Davisson because that's the way she signed her name on some of the papers. Mary Louisa Bailey is found as a new widow with 2 sons, Robert M. and Irvin G. on the 1870 Census for Weston, Lewis Co, WV. She is also found on the 1880 Census, Weston, Lewis Co, WV with only her son Robert, her other son having died in Oct. 1870. Her son Robert (dod unknown) if living, would have been about 31 years old when Mary Louisa married Minter Jackson.
