Abraham Day was born 24 May 1713 in Bradford, Massachusetts,[1][2] a twin to Robert and the son of Moses Day and Abigail Kimball.
He married Mary Bailey in Newbury, in 1737/38.[3] Abraham and Mary lived near the old homestead of his father in the western part of Bradford, where their ten children were born:[4]
"Abraham Day of Bradford" executed a will 16 Jan. 1792. In this will he made the following bequests: (1) to son Abraham Day 1/8th part of a tract of land in the westerly part of Methuen and part in New Salem, plus all the lands on which he lived with the buildings thereon as long as he made no further demands on the estate; (2) to son Joseph Day 3/13th part of all his land in Bradford, Andover, Newbury and Rowley with the building thereon except what he has disposed of, plus 3/13th of all his stock and money and money due him, plus 1/8th part of a tract of land in western Methuen and part on New Salem; (3) to son Bailey Day he gave the same 1/8th part of land, stock and money as given to son Joseph Day; (4) to son Moses Day he gave the same 1/8th portion of land, stock and money as given to sons Joseph and Bailey; (5) to daughter Mary Day he gave 2/13th portion of the same lands as given to Joseph, Bailey and Moses Day, also 2/13th of stock, and money and 1/8th portion of the land in westerly Methuen and New Salem; (6) to daughter Sarah Day he gave 2/13th portion of the same lands, stock and money as given to his daughter Mary, but also one half of her half of the pew in the meeting house, one third her right in the Bradford library and 1/3rd of his household furniture; (7) to daughter Elizabeth Webster he gave 1/8th part of his lands in western Methuen and New Salem and 1/3rd of his household furniture; (8) to his son Samuel Day he gave 1/8th part of his lands in western Methuen and New Salem; (9) to the grandchild or children born in lawful wedlock of his son Samuel Day all of the land in Methuen and New Salem he bought of Samuel Parker with the buildings thereon the profits from which Samuel should use to support his children; (10) to his grandson Abraham Day, son of his son Samuel, £9 to be paid when he becomes 21. He appointed his son Joseph Day to be the sole executor of his will. Witnesses were Benjamin Gage, Jonathan Bradley and Daniel Carleton.
Abraham lost his wife, when Mary died in 1780, at age 61.
He passed away 2 December 1794 in Bradford, at the age of 81.[5] His will was proven 5 Jan. 1795 in Essex County, MA, Court.
He was buried beside his wife in Bradford's Ancient Burying Ground.[6][7]
