Biography

Mary Day was born about 1641 at Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of Deacon Robert Day and Editha Stebbins. [1]
Her father Robert Day died when she was about seven years old. Her mother Editha married Deacon John Maynard, a bachelor, who died about ten years later.
Editha Stebbins Day Maynard married for a third time, to Elizur Holyoak, about 1658, and moved to his home in Springfield, Massachusetts Bay Colony, about twenty-two miles away.
Mary moved to Springfield with her mother, and married there, 28 October 1659, Samuel Ely, the son of Nathaniel Ely. [2] [3] In 1659, Springfield was a town in the unorganized part of Massachusetts Bay Colony, outside the boundaries of the four original counties.[4]Ten of their sixteen children died in infancy or in early youth. Samuel died 17 March 1692, at Springfield, Massachusetts.
Mary married for her 2nd husband, 12 April 1694, at Springfield, Hampshire County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, Thomas Stebbins, Jr., of Springfield. [5] [6] Thomas died at Springfield 7 December 1695.
Mary Day Ely Stebbins married for her 3rd husband, at Springfield, John Coleman on 11 December 1696. [7] [8] [9]
John Coleman died 21 January 1711, and his wife Mary died 17 October 1725, age 84. [10] They are buried at Hill Cemetery, Hatfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts, [11]

Please note that the location of the three marriages of Mary Day were all in Springfield, according to Great Migration 1634-1635, C-F, page 328 by Robert Charles Anderson.

The name of the location is different from the first marriage, for the second and third marriages, because of changes in the legal name of Massachusetts, as it went through various charters from the King of England.

See Wikipedia for specific dates of the charters.

Day-267 and Day-1362 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, no conflicting data
