Biography

Jacob was born on 4 Apr 1750 in Westchester County, New York. He was the son of David Dayton and Dorothy (Clapp) Dayton.

He married Elizabeth Curtis Hustis.

Jacob and Elizabeth moved to Ulster Co., NY shortly after their marriage. We worked first in New Marlboro as a blacksmith. He bought land in Lloyd part of which became Dayton Hollow which he farmed. He signed the Association against the British Govvernment April 29, 1775. He was a class leader in the Methodist Episcopal Church for more than 30 years
