Jacobus and Dayton explain: In the family of Henry and Mary the three males were the adult sons, while Amarilis was the wife of Henry W., and Mary A. is meant for the wife of John. Emily, the widow of Marvin, Jr., was living with her daughter Emily, and the two young children were her grandchildren, the children of her son Goodrich whose wife had died nearly a year before the census was taken.
