Hi Suzanne!

Thanks for joining us! I hope you're enjoying our site and our community. I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Has the New Member How To Pages been helpful or has it left you with questions?

It's great to have you on board. Enjoy your time here, and good luck growing your branches. If you need help just click on my name you'll be transferred to my profile where you can post a message or send me a private message.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Thanks for clarifying that. It does look like Jans-220 is your woman.

Hi. Your question about Christina Styntje Jans went to the New Netherland Settlers project account.

It's very possible that Stijntje Jans-220 is the same woman as that person in your stack of papers. Stijntje and Styntje are the same name, and both of these names are diminutive forms of the Dutch name Christijntje (or Christina). However, it's also possible that these are just two women with the same name.

What else do you know about your Styntje Jans? Jans-220 was married to Joost Carelszen and they had several children baptized in New Amsterdam between 1658 and 1670.

ADDED: Jans-67 is another candidate to be your Stijntje Jans.

ANOTHER ADDITION: Also see Janse-46.

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.

Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.

Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.

Ludwig :)

PS If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section of your profile page.

I just discovered this site a couple of days ago and was so excited to find more info on my family. I decided to volunteer so I could get more info and help with the info I have. Nice to meet all of you.
