Biography

The Lancashire Inquests, Extents and Feudal Aids, by William Farrer, refers to six daughters of Warine Bussel, who are given in marriage either by their father or their brother Richard.[1]

Unfortunately only one daughter is named and it's impossible to tell if these are six separate sisters, or whether some of them may have been widowed and these marriages represent a second or even third marriage.

"Richard Bussel gave ij carucates to Richard Spileman in marriage with his sister, that is Standish and Langeton (Langtree)"[2]

Leising succeeded Richard Spileman to these estates, either as son and heir, or more likely, by marriage with Richard's daughter and heir.[2]

Research Notes

The original DOB was 1118, which would make her mother 48 years old at her birth. A duplicate profile has her DOB as 1106, so her mother would have been 36, much more plausible. Since both profiles are otherwise very similar, I changed the DOB here to make a merge more palatable.

The dates need to be looked at again. If this daughter was given away by her brother Richard, it indicates her marriage might have taken place after he succeeded their father in about 1150.

Bussel-2 and DeBussel-5 do not represent the same person because: The marriage information for the daughters of Warin Bussel don't generally mention their names and it is difficult to tell if the six marriages are with six separate daughters or some represent second marriages for the same daughter. As the marriages of a daughter to Richard Spileman and another to Hamon Pincerna are mentioned separately it seems better to assume these are different daughters.

DeBussel-5 and DeBussell-1 are not ready to be merged because: Still too much unknown with two different husbands and three different wives.

DeBussel-5 and DeBussell-1 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. After this merge is complete, a merge with Richard's 3rd wife may be possible.

Same person as DeBussell-1. I removed the very old unmerged match and initiated a new merge.

I found a useful web page questioning the countless thousands of people who are supposedly buried in the little hamlet of Y, Somme, Picardie, France: Y, Somme, Picardie, France...SERIOUSLY?

DeBussel-5 and DeBussell-1 are not ready to be merged because: Alot that is not a match.
DeBussel-5 seems to be the same person, needs expert research skills to get the facts cleared up!
