Biography

Isabel was born about 1632 to unknown parents (see Research Note). She was married to Pedro Cedillo Rico de Rojas.[1][2] According to her daughter's marriage record, she died sometime before 1692.[2][3]

Research Notes

  1. While there are sources proving that Andrés López de Gracia (abt.1600-), María López de Millán (1613-aft.1684), Lucia López de Gracia (1620-), Sebastiana López de Gracia (abt.1620-1686), and Isabel López de Gracia (1632-1692) were siblings,[4] the only mention of their parents is a document, "Lista de los soldados que van a la Nueva Mexico" which says "Andres Lopez de Garcia, son of Bentura."[5] Fray Angélico Chávez did a bit of conjecturing and said that their father may have been Antonio de Gracia "or a brother," possibly Bentura. Antonio's parents were Juan Lopez and Gerónima Millán which could explain the surnames used by this family.[6]
  2. Isabel's correct surname is López de Gracia according to the prenuptial investigation for her son Joaquin.[7] Also, three of her four siblings used López de Gracia. Two of her children's DMs list her as Isabel de Gracia[2][8] but I think the full name should be used. Korte-201 07:21, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

DeGracia-1 and López de Gracia-5 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate profile. Though the DMs for two of her children lists her as Isabel de Gracia, three of her four siblings used the surname López de Gracia and her son Joaquin's DM shows her as Isabel Lopez de Gracia.

Her correct LNAB is López de Gracia. This needs to be corrected so that duplicates are not created.

Isabel was not the daughter of Ventura López de Gracia and Juana de los Reyes Sanchez and needs to be detached from their profiles. She was most likely the daughter of Andrés López de Gracia and his unknown wife.
