Antoine Claude DeJan was born about 1736 in Bordeaux, France, a son of Antoine DeJan (~1685 - ~1766) and and Francoise Dumain or Dumelle. ^{[citation needed]}

Before he was thirty years old, Antoine immigrated to Louisiana; he married Angelique Montjean (1752-1794) on 24 June 1766 in New Orleans, Louisiana,^[1] which was by then under the control of Spain.

Their known children were:

He was a master locksmith who served as an artilleryman in the Spanish Militia of New Orleans in 1778.^[2]

Antoine died about 16 August 1786 in New Orleans, Louisiana, New Spain, aged about 50.
