net Elaine Hubley 1942-1989 Bridgewater Bulletin
Janet Elaine Hubley, 47, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1989, in the I.C.U. of University Hospital, London, Ontario.
Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of Maysie and the late Winfield DeLong of Barss Corner.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Hubley, New Germany; four sons, Trent, New Germany; Troy, Halifax; Todd, Bridgewater; and Harry Green, Niagara Falls; a brother, Gerald DeLong, Barss Corner; two sisters, Susan (Mrs. Donald Drew), Halifax; Kim DeLong, Chicago; and four grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Jason, and Kyle.
She was admired by many friends and family for her warmth, sense of humour and determination, even though she spent the past year in hospitals. She chose to have an extremely risky transplant so that she might have a better life. Even though the transplant was successful, her body could not withstand any more. She left us admiring her courage and determination.
She was cremated in London, Ontario.
The memorial service was held on Thursday, December 7, 1989, at the Barss Corner United Baptist Church by Rev. Karl and Mariam Uhrstrom. A special poem which was written by a friend in the hospital about Elaine's life, was read by her cousin, Sandra Boyd, of Middleton.
Interment followed at the Barss Corner Community Cemetery.
