Maynard Brown DeLong, 92, of 2490 Quinn Street, Halifax, died Moday in Fairview Villa. Born in Union Square, Lunenburg County, he was the son of the late J. Leander DeLong and Sarrah (Durland) DeLong.
In former years he was deacon of the West End Baptist Church and in his later years he was deacon and charter member of Mulgrave Park Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sons of Temperance, Mayflower division.
He is survived by a daughter, Annetta, (Mrs. Ralph Neaves), of Halifax; three sons, Herbert, of Halifax; Rev Phillip M., of Tryon, P.E.I.; Rev. J. Gordon, of McAdam, N.B.; one sister, Mrs. Rachel Wentzel of Lakeside;13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Sadie Cox, and one daughter.
The body is at the Halifax Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11a.m. from the Mulgrave Park Baptist Church with Rev. John Barteaux officiating. Burial will be in Barss Corner, Lunenburg County at 3 p.m.
