Thomas w/b 50 years old "about"

Living In Harford, Maryland

1820 Election District 5, Harford, Maryland
Head of Household:
Name: Thomas Demoss
White Males: =10=1 / 26-45=1
White Females: 26-45=1 [1]

THOMAS DeMOSS JR....is the son of :Thomas DeMoss SR. and Abiah Beach-DeMoss (THE MOTHER, Abiah Beach is in question?) (as per the Descendants.
After his mother _______ passed away his Dad, Thomas SR.
REMARRIED--- Ann Lowe-GREER, Widow of Joseph GREER
and with her came some daughters, namely
Jemima born 1767 VA
Priscilla born circa 1760 VA
Ann born circa 1775 VA
Lize born circa 1777 VA
AND when the girls became of age 2 of them married their Step-brothers,
Ann married :Thomas DeMoss-1798 in Wilkes County North Carolina (marriage contract att'd)

Priscilla married William L. DeMoss

AND Jemima married Philemon Saunders (2nd cousin) The Will of her father Joseph GREER proves not only her parents but her husband, Philemon. DeMoss Family Tree

AND Lize married Caleb Heptinstall, the marriage contract is signed "Thomas DeMoss, :Guardian"
As per "Winfield's Marriage Records of Virginia", pg 113 "Caleb Heptinstall married Lize :Greer,
on 7 Nov. 1796,
signed, by "sur. Thomas DeMoss, g." (Guardian)

SO THIS Marriage Contract proves that the Thomas DeMoss, Guardian of the Ann Lowe-Greer DeMoss children was in deed still alive in 1796. He would be 70 years of age and still living in Virginia.

Research Notes

New data from Cuz' Joshua DeMoss

"Thanks, I would remove the links for William L. DeMoss (1768) and Thomas Jr. (1770) to James/Phoebe Cox DeMoss on findagrave.com as soon as you are able. I think the evidence I found is fairly indisputable and I would be very surprised if Thomas DeMoss Sr. was not the father of those children. I know it is a big revelation, but people should be open to the change. I am fine with having my name on your page and am perfectly happy to defend any statements I've made.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't know when Thomas Sr. died, though it was after 1788. Abiah Beach DeMoss likely died around 1782, before Thomas Sr. married Ann Lowe Greer. I doubt there are any markers for them.

Thomas Sr.'s parents were almost certainly Louis DeMoss, the immigrant, and Catherine. (maiden name? Callet)

Thomas Sr. named his first son Louis and the naming convention of his children's children matches the other DeMoss descendants of the immigrant.

I've never seen proof that Catherine's maiden name was Callet, so I've never included it.

There is a findagrave memorial for Louis, the immigrant, just search for Louis DeMoss died 1743. However, I don't believe anything it says about his ancestry or his birth date. I don't think his ancestors can be found at this point."

"The major revelations come with the family of Thomas DeMoss (1726). (Senior)

First: there is a 1752 marriage record from Morristown, NJ that ties him to Abiah Beach.

After marriage, they moved to Virginia, eventually settling in Bedford County by 1774.

Second: Their children are as follows: 1. Louis DeMoss (1753-1820) who married Hannah Greer. (daughter of John/Nancy Walker-GREER, John being the son of John/Sarah Day-GREER)

2. Tabitha DeMoss (1756) who married John Chartier and had a daughter Abiah Beach Chartier DeMoss (1800-1892).

3. Sarah "Sallie" DeMoss (1757-1854) married Skelton Taylor (many of Louis DeMoss' (1753) descendants took the name Skelton).

4. James DeMoss (1758-1813) married Zana Taylor in Bedford County.

5. George DeMoss (1765) moved to Mississippi.

6. William L. DeMoss (1768-before 1830) married Priscilla Greer (daughter of Joseph/Ann Lowe Greer).

7. Thomas DeMoss (1770) (JUNIOR) married Ann Greer, 1798 (daughter of Joseph/Ann Lowe Greer). "North Carolina, County Marriages, 1762-1979 ," Name Thomas Demoss Event Type Marriage Event Date 11 Sep 1798 Event Place Wilkes, North Carolina, United States Spouse's Name Ann Greer Digital Folder Number 004364151 COPY OF ORIGINAL att'd

Later in 1783, Thomas--(1726) (Senior) marries Ann Lowe Greer, widow of Joseph.

There are military, tax, and marriage records that tie Thomas (1726) to Bedford County from 1774 to 1783. There are court records that tie Thomas (1726) to Franklin County, VA from 1786-1788.

I have no records for him after that.

AND so the BIG QUESTION here IS,
and there are 101 FAMILY TREES on rootsweb.com that will be very upset when
We, Joshua DeMoss and Carole Taylor (Greer) change the parents of William-Thomas :JR.-Abraham Louis-AND the other children those researchers have listed as being :children of

James DeMoss/ Phoebe Cox-DeMoss will now become the brother to Thomas Sr.

SO the only children of James/Phoebe will be the 2 daughters,
Phoebe and Joanna
Thomas JR was the son of her 2nd husband, Thomas Sr Ann Lowe-Greer DeMoss.
This Thomas DeMoss JR.'s MOTHER-In-LAW
And the brother to William L. DeMoss
who married Priscilla GREER, daughter of Ann and Joseph.

Place of Burial is now in Question??? Burial: DeMoss Family cemetery, Radford, Bedford County, Virginia,

-I have been asked to recheck my dob/dod data it maybe incorrect... but then even census records are not correct very often when it comes to a persons age...or place of birth...- carole taylor puntenney-- Added: Aug. 4, 2014

NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY

This is ALL that I removed from the f-a-g MEMORIAL as per request..
Some researchers show that Thomas DeMoss, the nephew of married Ann (Lowe) Greer.

She would have been about 35 years older than the nephew, Thomas DeMoss. Therefore, she was probably married to the older Thomas Greer. Some researchers show that she was not married to Thomas DeMoss, but to James DeMoss. Descendants of James DeMoss show him to be married only once.)""

The birth of a daughter, Ann, born 1775 to Joseph Greer and Ann Lowe-Greer is now is question??? We need to find the SOURCE for her.
