John Depue II, b. perhaps c1762, Monmouth, New Jersey. Thought to be a son of John Depue and Catherine Shepard who reportedly married in Princeton, Middlesex, New Jersey.[1]
His family is found in Botetourt c1776 according to his elder brother Isaac Depue's Revolutionary War record. [2] His father also served. [3] In Sept 8 1778, his father, John Depew, was made Surveyor of Roads in Botetourt County and purchased 370acres there in 1789.[4]
Married: 08 Oct 1792 to Mary Seegraves in Botetourt, Virginia.[5][4] (His wife's sister, Elisabeth also married in Botetourt, 1792.[4])
John lived in Botetourt with his wife and children. [6][7] The Depue's relocated to Illinois where, in 1818, John purchased 160 acres in Fayette County.[8] He lived in Fayette for the remainder of his lifetime. [9]
Died: reportedly 1842, in Fayette County, Illinois.[1]

The surname 'Depue' is of French origins, first found in the ancient French province of Languedoc.

Birth: placed in New Jersey by current research, some say his parents married in Princeton, Middlesex, NJ (1748) and that John was born c1762 in Monmouth. No records.[1] John's father died in Virginia c. early 1800s.[1]
Military Service: None. John was thirteen when the war broke out.
A previous source for service during War of 1812 belongs to John W Depue of Ohio and has since been detached.
Religious Affiliation: Methodist: The Depue family was noted as part of the faith in Fayette, Illinois c1821.[11]
Noted as Rev. John Depue at one online tree, no record of ordination or circuit riding.[1] He did not officiate at his son John's marriage. Valid SourceRecord needed.
