Moses Dewitt was born 23 October 1761. [1] He was a Captain during the Revolutionary War and fought at Minisink Ford, New York, on 22 July 1779. [2] He was also forced to fight Native Americans and fought bravely. [3] He then removed to Wantage township in Sussex County, New Jersey, where he was a farmer and one of the pioneers. [4]
