Biography
Rosemary was born in Santa Monica, California. Her parents divorced in 1956 and she moved with her mother, Barbara to the San Fernando Valley in Ca. When Rosemary was 5 years old, her mother married Emanuel Switko and they moved, with his 7 year old child, Lynnae to a small 2 bedroom home in Reseda, Ca. Mr Switko worked for the Green Sheet Newspaper (which later became the Daily News) as an advertising executive and Mrs DeYoe/Switko worked as a teacher in L.A. Unified School District. In 1959, Rosemary's half sister, Dusty Marie, was born. In 1960, the family moved to a larger home in Granada Hills, CA. Rosemary attended Knollwood Elementary. she loved to sing and took classical guitar. When Rosemary was 12 years old, the family moved to an even larger home in Northridge, CA. Rosemary attended Nobel Jr. High School and Granada Hills High School, where her interest in the performing arts grew. She graduated with honors and then attended California State University Northridge, receiving her bachelors degree in theater arts. During that time she married her first husband, John Frank Parrovechio, and had two children. When her children were still very young, Rosemary went back to school and attended UC Irvine, getting her multiple subject teaching credential and graduated in 1986. She taught in public schools for a few years then entered the nonprofit field working for Girls Inc., Newport Beach for approximately seven years as a program director and then as a national trainer of trainers. In 1991, Rosemary and her first husband divorced. Rosemary began acting again and in 1993, received a best supporting actress award for her role as Philadelphia Burke in the Alan Menken musical, Weird Romance, at the Costa Mesa Playhouse in Orange County, California. In 1994, she moved with her children to Ventura County, Moorpark, and worked for in Moorpark unified school district as a teacher, grant writer, and program developer. Rosemary also worked as a program facilitator for the Ventura County family preservation and support program for a few years.
In 2002, Rosemary married John Michael Moffat, the true love of her life! They moved to Mike's home in Simi Valley. They both became very active in Ventura County live theatre as actors, directors, etc. Productions included You Can't Take t With You, The Music Man, Tommy, Agatha Christie Takes Manhattan, Cinderella, The Graduate, to name a few, at the Conejo Players Theatre. They also participated in multiple One Act festivals at the Elite Theatre in Oxnard. In addition, Rosemary wrote an old-time Ghost Walk in Moorpark, CA - Historic Haunts of High Street and facilitated the event for several years. In 2009, Rosemary was admitted to the Masters Program in the Theatre Department at California State University, Northridge. She received her Masters Degree in Theatre in 2012.
The same year, the Moffats bought a home in Agua Dulce, California, where they still reside as of 2017. Rosemary became involved at the Canyon Theatre Guild and the Santa Clarita Regional Theatre in Santa Clarita. In 2013, she was offered the position of Director of their Youth Theatre Institute at the Canyon Theatre Guild, where she was employed until June of 2017. Productions included Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, The Wizard of Oz, Anne of Green Gables, among others. Rosemary continues to act, direct and consult on educational and performance projects.
