Events
In 1688, Jeanne le Clercq arrived at the Cape from Serooskerke, Zeeland. On 26 February 1698 at his homestead, most likely in the Drakenstein district, André Gauch was murdered. He was struck three mortal blows to the head. The perpetrator was never officially identified or brought to book, but circumstantial evidence suggests that Pieter Becker may have been the perpetrator, possibly with the knowledge of Jeanne le Clercq the wife of the deceased and whom he married, apparently within months. [2]
Abraham le Clercq, Born 7 May 1670 [16], arrived 1688 on the Oosterlandt, married Magdalena Mouton, 12.05.1709 Stellenbosch (Source: South Africa Genealogies J A Heese-R T J Lombard) [15]

In 1715, when he returned from Robben Island, Pieter Bekker challenged his wife, Jannetie Clerq before the Council of Justice, accusing her of being in an adulterous relationship with the corporal of the Land of Waveren in his absence (although he had intimate visits from her on the island) and that she had a child by him.
Something strange; in 1732 he and Jannetjie was wittiness to the baptismal of Johan Christophel van den Berg, in Drakenstein. ( The First Fifty YearsProject)
According to Delia A. Robertson's update of 20/07/2014 on the First Fifty Years - a project collating Cape of Good Hope records, Johanna de Maker was baptised as the daughter of Jannetje de Clerq on 30 September 1714 in the NGK in Drakenstein, witnessed by Jacob Mouton. She married Lodewyk Swart on 31 March 1736 and, later, Hercules des Pree on 1 October 1740. [All the sources can be traced on this website.) Here, on Wikitree, you'll see that Johanna is listed as the last of the beneficiaries under Jannettje's will, where she is named as Johanna de Maaken, daughter of Johanna de Clerq. There appears to be no record of a marriage between Mattheus de Maker and Jannetje de Clerq (see Stamboom van Pieter Becker, pp.11-12, www.gennza.org.za/Bekker Families).
I have a MyHaritage match that want to allocate a third husband, Mattheus de Maker to Jannetje de Klerk, from which Johanna du Preez (de_maker-5) is born - a direct ancestor of my wife.
Any advice?
Le Clerque-1 and Le Clercq-8 appear to represent the same person because: Same data (name, spouse, child) Le-Clercq-8 is the target profile allthough Le Clerque-1 would seem to have been the more correct French spelling of the name.
Le Clerk-3 and Le Clercq-8 appear to represent the same person because: Same data Le_Clercq-8 has the correct spelling of the LNAB (lower case 'l' etc.)
Le Clercq-22 and Le Clercq-8 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse, same data. See comment box. See: Le Clercq-8. See her will. Please merge!
