Biography

William de Mille was a playwright, screenwriter and film director.[1][2][3]

Born in 1878, he was the eldest son of playwright Henry de Mille and Matilda Samuel. He married Anna A. George and they had two daughters: Agnes[4] and Margaret.[5] He and Anna divorced in 1927. The following year he married screenwriter Clara Beranger. He had a son, Richard, with writer Lorna Moon. After his mother fell ill with tuberculosis, Richard was adopted by his uncle Cecil B. DeMille and only discovered who his birth parents were as an adult.[6]

William de Mille died in 1955.[7]
