Biography

Daughter of don Gonzalo de Mora y Fernández Riera del Olmo (1887-1957), conde de Mora, marquis de Casa Riera, and of doña Blanca de Aragón y Carrillo de Albornoz (1892-1981).

She married Beaudouin, King of the Belgians on 15 December 1960. They had no children (Queen Fabiola suffered several miscarriages).

Upon the death of King Beaudouin on 31 July 1993, his brother Albert succeeded as King Albert II. Fabiola moved to the Stuyvenberg castle and somewhat reduced the number of her official appearances, though she remained active and kept several patronages.

Fabiola died on 5 December 2014. She was interred in the royal crypt of Laeken.
