Biography

Richard de Vere KG was a member of aristocracy in the British Isles.

Richard de Vere, K.G., 11th Earl of Oxford, hereditary steward of the Forest of Essex[1][2]

Richard, son of Aubrey de Vere and Alice FitzWalter, was probably born in 1385 (granted his lands without proving his age in 1406).[2][1]

Before 1399, Richard married Alice Holand, daughter of John Holand and Elizabeth, daughter of John of Gaunt.[1] They had no children.

About 1406-7, Richard married Alice Sergeaux, daughter of Sir Richard Sergeaux and Philippa de Arundel, and widow of Guy Saint Auburn.[1] They had three children:[1]

  • John
  • Robert
  • Richard

Sir Richard died 15 feb 1416/7.[1] He wrote a will 6 aug 1415, leaving all property and estate to his wife Alice. The will was proven 26 feb 1415/6.[3] Richard was buried at Earls Colne, Essex.[1]
