Johannes was born in 1916. He was the son of Adolph Andreas Krogman de Waal and Johanna Eveline Olivier.
At the age of 26 he married 24 year old Pamela Blanche Tatham on 23 January 1943 at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa. His occupation was recorded as Attorney-at-law. He was also a Captain in the South African Air Force (SAAF). Pamela was a Warrant Officer in the WAAF.[1]
They had one son.
Johannes fought in the 2nd World War (Service Number 4306V). Tragically he was killed in action in the 2nd World War when his plane was shot down over Italy on 25 May 1944. He was just 28 years of age and their son was only two months of age.
