Brandon was born in 1942 to entertainer parents in Brooklyn. New York. He was a prolific child actor probably best known for his portrayal of the young Joey Starrett, son of a frontier homesteader, in the movie "Shane" (1953). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, the youngest at the time.
He continued working in film, television and on stage until his death in an automobile accident in 1972 at age 30.
