Son of Howard C. Deakyne, Sr. and Helen Johnson Deakyne.
Brother of Mary Louise Deakyne.
Robert, who resided in Smyrna, Delaware, was a Private in Company I, the 347th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on July 17, 1944 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Photographer and as being Single, without dependents.
He was "Killed In Action" near Ormont, Germany.
He served with the Army for eight months at the time of his death. He was decorated with a Purple Heart.
