George Deal was born in 1758, in Frederick county, Maryland and died in 1840, in Bedford county, Pennsylvania. George served as a non-commissioned officer, during the American Revolutionary War. He enlisted as a Private, in the company of Captain Reynolds, under the command of Colonel Shryock. His application for pension after the War indicates that he attained the rank of "Second Sergeant" in Captain Chaplain's unit. [1]
George Deal is honored for his military service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as DAR Ancestor #A030998. DAR records give his wife's name as Mary/Anna Meyers. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of his son, Philip J. Deal, who married Susan Bollman [2] and of his daughter, Mary Ann Deal, who married Charles Ashcom.
George Deal is buried in the United Church of Christ Cemetery (also known as Kratzerville Evangelical Cemetery) in Kratzerville, Snyder County, Pennsylvania. [3]

George Diehl/Deal/Deale (1758-1844)
Born: Frederick, MD, Apr 1758
Died: Bedford Co, PA, 9 Aug 1844^
Buried: Bedford Co, PA^^
There are no supporting records provided on this WikiTree entry — nor have I found any anywhere online — to support the contention that this George Diehl/Deal, who was born in Maryland and lived most of his adult life from 1784-1844 and died in Bedford County, was transported and buried in Kratzerville, Snyder County. The dates of birth and death are not consistent with the George Diehl buried in Kratzerville. These are two different people. George Diehl (1758-1844) from Bedford who was well documented to have fought in the Revolutionary War whereas the George Diehl (1760-1840) who is buried in Kratzerville has no concrete documentation that he fought in this war despite placement on his grave of a Revolutionary War soldier -- which can be purchased anywhere and in-and-of-itself is no authenticataion of his status as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Regarding suggested "sources" from the DAR in this profile above, I have gone back to the DAR website and checked their database and this is what I found: DAR listings for George Diehl/Deal [Also checked and there are no Georg(e) listed under the spelling variations: Deel, Deihl, Teel, Tiehl in their database] The following information is verbatim (copy/pasted) from the DAR search results.
Deal, Georg(e)
Death: a 2- -1842 BEDFORD CO PENNSYLVANIA
Death: ANTE 12-3-1824 LINCOLN CO NORTH CAROLINA;
Diehl, Georg(e)
Death: 7-28-1804 CODORUS TWP YORK CO PENNSYLVANIA
Death: 2-11-1822 PHILADELPHIA PHILADELPHIA CO PENNSYLVANIA
Death: ANTE 10-17-1823 RICHLAND TWP BUCKS CO PENNSYLVANIA
So, there are NO George Diehl/Deal that the DAR shows have been registered that could be the George Diehl in Kratzerville. Period. Contrary to what some presumably well intentioned person has posted online the George Diehl who lived and died in Bedford was not shipped and buried in Kratzerville. Bedford County records note his death and burial in Providence Township, Bedford. Despite what anybody published in a book or posted online there is no evidence I'm aware of that even begins to establish the George Diehl buried in Kratzerville fought in the Revolutionary War.
