The former date matches information recorded in the 1900 United States Census and the Social Security Death Index, the latter date is engraved on her tombstone.[1][2][3] Her parents were William Simmons Deal and Missouri Franklin.[4]

Mattie Deal and D. Clark were married on 10 December 1923 in Coffee County, Alabama.[5] They were the parents of at least two children, Edward Deal Clark and Bazil D. Clark.[6][7]
Mattie (Deal) Clark died on 16 December 16, 1978, aged 84. Her last place of residence was in Opp, Covington County, Alabama.[2] She was buried in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery, Opp, Covington County, Alabama. A double stone marks her grave and that of her husband, Obie Dee Clark.[3]
