Biography

Mattie Deal was born on 03 January 1894 or 03 February 1896 in Alabama. The former date matches information recorded in the 1900 United States Census and the Social Security Death Index, the latter date is engraved on her tombstone.^[1][2][3] Her parents were William Simmons Deal and Missouri Franklin.^[4]

Mattie Deal and D. Clark were married on 10 December 1923 in Coffee County, Alabama.^[5] They were the parents of at least two children, Edward Deal Clark and Bazil D. Clark.^[6][7]

Mattie (Deal) Clark died on 16 December 16, 1978, aged 84. Her last place of residence was in Opp, Covington County, Alabama.^[2] She was buried in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery, Opp, Covington County, Alabama. A double stone marks her grave and that of her husband, Obie Dee Clark.^[3]
