Hi Rebecca,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

  • If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, Just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely, Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Hi Rebecca

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group.

See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details.

The Teams are :-

1 Categories Team
2 Counties Team
3 Managed Profiles Team
4 Membership Team
5 Profile Improvement Team
6 Topics Team
7 Diaspora

Can you let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project and which team(s) you’d like to join. Please also let me know your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group or confirm you are already a member of the google group.

Many thanks,

Amy Gilpin Ireland Project Coordinator

Rebecca, do you happen to speak any other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add

{{ Languages | en | fr-2 | ga-1 }}

to the top of your biography if you speak English natively, intermediate French and basic Irish, or you could use de-4 to specify near-native German or ru-1 for basic Russian, and so forth up to ten languages.

It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree! If you only speak English, you're very welcome to use this text to make that clear:

{{ Languages | en }}

Thanks,

Karen

Hi Rebecca -- I was just reading your notes on Wiliam Stewart. You did some great work! Did you see I added some pics of my grandfather who wrote the Dean book, John Erwin Dean?

Hi Rebecca,

I just got home and checked my email and saw the merge request (Herman Kenney) and then checked Wiki and I see you have it taken care of :) Thanks so much, Azra

Hey Rebecca, I just saw your comment. What is strange is that I checked my ancestry tree that was used when I uploaded to this site years ago and I have her maiden name Flournoy on it and her husbands name of Wooldridge is correctly spelled. This is my great grandmother's mother's line, not just a tangent on my tree so I know I would not have written it that way intentionally. There are others that have the ability to make changes to this person, it is quite possible it was done by them. Thank you for pointing it out, I will change it back.

I have information on Anna Brattain that shows her maiden name is "Lennon". Parents are Peter Lennon and Barbara (unknown). Would be happy to share info.

Hi again! I just proposed a merge for brothers Samuel (sons of newly merged Samuel Hancock-558), but looking at the text for one of them, it seems his name was Benjamin? And we have two Phoebes born to Sam Sr. & one to Sam Jr., but Phoebe who married John Watkins in 1734/before 1736 is not likely to be daughter of Sam & Elizabeth Jameson m 1725, but your profile for their daughter Phoebe, born 1748, says she married John Watkins. Your two Phoebe/Phebe (Hancock) Watkins profiles site different sources. Help?

Hi Rebecca , Thanks for your G2G message. Excellent and welcome! I've added the project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Clicking on the link Irish Roots Project will take you the first page of the project. Scroll down to participants where I've added your good self. Here you can let members know your Counties, clan/family names etc of interest etc. We also have a google+ community which you can join. I'll let you explore and catch up with you later.

Thanks again for joining and enjoy. Maria

Hi Rebecca,

I'd like to invite you to join in our "Weekend Chat", a popular G2G post where many of the members visit and share in a variety of topics.

New people say "Hello" and introduce themselves, Leaders and Mentors give tips and answer questions, and regulars share updates on their latest projects and victories... anything they wish to chat about. I most enjoy stories of famous or nefarious ancestors.

We'd love to hear from you, stop in when you're able!
