Research Notes

The 1850 census lists 30-year-old Jacob Dean with wife Rachel and 1-year-old Hannah, living in Bennington, Wyoming Co., New York.

The 1860 census lists 38-year-old Ira P. Dean with 28-year-old wife Vill J. and 11-year-old daughter Hannah, all born in New York, living in Polk, Iowa. Living with them is 27-year-old E. J. Dean (brother Ephriam John Dean). Ephriam stayed in Polk and shows up there in 1870.

The 1870 census lists a 50-year-old Isach Dean, cattle dealer in DeRuyter, married to 36-year-old Savilla. This might be the same Isiah Dean. Also living with them was 29-year-old Hannah Dean. Could this be a daughter from a prior marriage?

The 1880 census lists a 60-year-old farmer named Isiah P. Dean living in Cuyler, Cortland Co., New York, married to Arvilla, born about 1840 in New York. www.familysearch.org shows that Isiah Dean remarried to a Laville Dennis. Arvilla is most likely Laville. I assume that this is the same Isiah Dean. This seems to be confirmed by the marriage in 1876 in Cuyler, New York, of Hannah Dean (b. March 25, 1850), daughter of Isiah Dean (familysearch.org).
