He was employed as a Farm Servant and later worked as a Shepherd and lastly a Farmer.
In 1917 Peter was posted as a Reserve WWI.
Peter married at First Church, Dunedin in 1918 to Agnes, daughter of Alexander Hamilton of Ireland. They settled at Ettrick where they raised a family of 8 daughters and 2 sons during their marriage.
Peter Deans died aged 73 and is buried at Ettrick Cemetery, Moa Flat, Central Otago. PLOT 0136.
