Biography

The son of Richard William Dease (1839-1926) and Catherine Roach (1846-1888), George was born in St. Clair County in 1869.[citation needed] In 1880, he lived with his parents in Burtchville Tiownship.[1] His siblings included:

  1. Francis Elmer Dease (1862-1942)
  2. Chauncey Roach Dease (1864-1943)
  3. William Ward Dease (1867-1934)

In 1894, George lived with his brother, Frank, and Frank's family in East Tawas, Michigan.[2]

George married Elizabeth McDermott (1874-), the daughter of Duncan McDermott and Euphemia Sinclair, marrying in Grand Marais, Michigan on October 31, 1896[3] and having five children together:

  1. Muriel K. Dease (1897-1979)
  2. Ward Dease (1899-)
  3. Clyde Orrin Dease (1904-1974)
  4. Ruth (Dease) Jesmore (1905-)
  5. Irene Dease (1908-)

They made their home in Burt Township, Michigan in Alger County where, in 1900, George worked as a painter.[4] By 1910, they lived in Duluth, Minnesota, where George worked as a janitor at a shop.[5] In 1920, residing in Duluth, he worked as a painter in a paint shop.[6] By 1930, the George, Elizabeth, and their son, Clyde, had returned to Michigan, residing in Detroit, where George worked as a decorative painter.[7] He passed away later that year, at the age of 61.[8]
