Note N291James Decker is listed in the 1820 Census in Milford Twp, Butler Co, OH, page 73. His will was submitted May 22, 1826, and on Aug 1, 1826 it was recorded as "the last will and testament of James Decker now deceased." His wife had perhaps died first, as he left his property to daughter Delina, Sons Isaac, James, Robert Addison, John Elliott, Solomon, and daughter Elizabeth. His son, James, was born in VA in 1805 His son Isaac was born in Rockbridge Baths, VA. (near Lebanon Church (Samuel Carrick, Pastor).

There is a marriage of James Decker to Hanna Gladden 10 Sep 1789 in rockbridge Co, Virginia (Virginia Marriages before 1800). Father, Isak Decker Minister: Samuel Carrick.

is a James Docker in 1810 US Federal Census in Rockbridge Co, VA with approximately the correct children.

Lawsuit: 1806, James Decker helped Samuel Houston (father of the famous Sam H) at Timber Ridge Church.

1810. James Decker was tenant farmer and sued his landowners named Alexander re property bordering on the South River.

Found on old and current maps: Timber Ridge church, the Alexander land on South River, and a high ridge bisected by Timber Ridge Road called "Deckers Hill" We verified with locals that the ridge was still called Deckers Hill (2013). The farm land on top of Deckers Hill is at Lat 37 48' 54" N Lon 79 19' 14" W Altitude 1,384 ft.

James Decker might have won his lawsuit, as in 1816 he sold his share of some land in Rockbridge Co. By 1818 he was living in OH as his daughter Elizabeth was married there.
