Biography

Eleonora Decker was born in 1699 to parents Hermanus Janse Decker and Rachel de la Montagne in Kingston, Ulster, New York. Eleonora was christened August 13, 1699 in Kingston, Ulster County, New York; witnesses were Jan Decker and Johanna Montagne. [1]

She married Hendrick van Garden. Their children were:

  1. Jan Hendrickse "John" Van Garden
  2. Maria (Van Garden) Van Aken
  3. Johannes Van Garden
  4. Catharina Van Garden, christened 5 Jul 1742 in Walpack, New Jersey; witnessed by Jacobus Devoor and Eva Dingenman.[2]

Research Notes

Her first name is spelled "Elenora" in some records. "Eleonora" takes precedence because this spelling is used in handwritten primary sources[4] versus compiled sources.[5]
