His Hocąk name was HeMonEKah, which is for Himąnįga, "Walking Tooth," a reference to the lightning stone possessed by the Thunderbirds, the patrons of his clan. It is from hi, "tooth"; mąnį́, "to walk"; -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names.
