Molly Dee was born on February 4, 1772 in Saybrook, Middlesex, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Mark Davol and Mehitable Stannard. She married Joshua Post on July 12, 1795 in Westbrook, Connecticut. They had thirteen children during their marriage: Joshua, Polly, Deborah, Emily, Dianah, Jerusha, Mercy, Belinda, Sallie, Hettie A., Hannah, Juliet and Philo.
Molly and Joshua purchased land in Ohio and, about 1820, moved from Saybrook, Connecticut to Northfield, Summit (then Portage County), near the Brandywine River. Joshua died two years later, on September 19, 1822 in Twinsburg, Summit, Ohio. Molly died much later, on January 4, 1860, in Twinsburg
From Molly Dee’s obituary on 6 Feb 1860 in the Adams Centinel:
Mrs. Post was left to raise 13 children by herself, two sons and eleven daughters. At the time of his death, little of the land they had purchased was improved. However, with her industrial energy, she overcame all difficulties. She not only cared for her own household but others less fortunate than herself. All thirteen of her children married and raised families of their own. At the time of her death, she was survived by eleven of her children, seventy-five grandchildren and fifty-seven great grand-children.
Molly Dee later moved to Liberty Street in Twinsburg; she purchased 50 acres of land. She died 4 Jan 1860 and was buried next to her husband in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Twinsburg, Summit, Ohio.
