Biography

William was born in 1867 and he can be found in the Birth index as Willian T Deeprose year 1866 Dec quarter at Rye in Sussex.[1]volume 2b page 10.

William first appears on the 1871 census living with his parents at 44 Alma Terrace, Hastings in Sussex.[2][3]William Deeprose head married 27 Plasterer born 1844 St Mary in the Castle, Hastings. Sarah Ann wife 27 born 1844 Hastings. William Thomas son 4 infant born 1867 Ickelsham, Sussex. Henry son 1 born 1870 Hastings.

William appears on the 1881 census living at 163 St George`s Road, St Mary`s in the Castle, Hasings in Sussex.[4][5]William Deeprose head married 37 Plasterer employing 6 man and 4 boys, born 1844 at Hastings in Sussex. Sarah A. wife 37 born 1844 Hastings. William son 14 Plasterer born 1867 Hastings. Henry son 11 born 1870 Hastings. Albert son 6 born 1875 Hastings. Arthur son 1 infant born 1880 Hastings.

William marries in 1888 and can be found on the Marriage index as William Thomas Deeprose September quarter of 1888 Hastins, Sussex.[6]To Annie Edwards volume 2b page 43.

William and Annie went on to have children: Florence Sarah 1890-1901 Albert Edward 1891-1892 Charles 1892-1926 Henry 1894-1963 Frederic 1897-1944 Annie 1898-1989

William appears on the 1891 census at Rye, Sussex.[7][8]5 Factory Houses. William Deeprose head married 25 Plasterer at Elliotts Stone Works, Annie wife 23 born 1868 at Lydd in Kent. Florence daughter 9 months born Rye Harbour, Sussex.

1901 census sees William living at in Rye, Sussex.[9][10]133 St Georges Road. William Deeprose head married 35 Plasterer born 1866 Hastings. Annie wife 34 born 1867 Lydd, Kent. Charles son 8 born 1893 Rye. Henry son 6 born 1895 Hastings. Frederick son 4 born 1897 Hastings. Annie daughter 3 born 1898 Hastings.

Sadly Annie died in 1903 leaving William with 5 young children.

He soon found a replacement wife for his children marring my great grandmother Fanny King in 1904. He can be found in the Marriage index as William Thomas June quarter of 1904 at Hastings, Sussex.[11] to Fanny Louisa King, volume 2b page 99.

Dorothy brought with her Dorothy Harriett King, my grandmother, from her first marriage.

1911 census sees William living at 9 Hurrell Road, in Hastings.[12][13][14][15]William Deeprose 44 head married 6 years a House Plasterer born in 1867 at Hastings, Sussex. Fanny wife 35 total children born 3 all still living, born 1876 Goudhurst, Kent. Harry Deeprose 17 son Bakers Assistant born 1894 Rye, Sussex. Fred son 15 Apprentice Carrige Painting born 1896 Rye. Annie daughter 13 School born 1898 Hastings. Dorothy King wife daughter 11 school born 1900 Sherness, Kent. Arthur son 6 school born 1905 Hastings. Beatrice daughter 4 infant born 1907 Hastings. Ellen daughter 2 infant born 1909 Hastings.

William and Fanny went on to have a further 5 children themselves: Annie 1905- Arthur George 1905-1944 Beatrice 1906-1989 Ellen 1909- Albert James 1915-1943.

He passed away in 1934 and can be found on the Death Index as William T Deeprose age 68, December quarter of 1934 at Hastings in Sussex. [16]volume 2b page 58.

William had his will probated on 17th January 1935 at London.[17][18] William Thomas Deeprose of 3 Wellington Terrace, Rye in Sussex who died on 3rd December 1904 at the Municipal Hospital in Hastings. Administration London 17th January 1935 to Fanny Louisa Deeprose Widow. Effects £180 6s 11d.
