Elizabeth (or Eliza) Jane Deer was born around July 1860 in Margam, Glamorgan, Wales to John and Mary Deer.
She was eight months old and the only child of John and Mary at the 1861 Wales census.[1]
The family migrated to South Australia on the Morning Star in 1862, however Eliza died during the journey on 23 December 1862 from Marasmus.[2]
