Dewit Dees, second son of Emanuel Dees Jr, was likely born about 1735 in Bertie County, North Carolina, British Colonial America. (In 1741, Edgecombe County was established from a portion of Bertie County. In some sources, Edgecombe County is listed incorrectly as Dewit Dees' place of birth). [1]
Note: Dewit is listed in the DAR Patriot Index - Centennial Edition. His name is also found as Duet. There are Army accounts at Raleigh that show he was a Revolutionary soldier. The descendants of his son John, settled in Pulaski County, Georgia.
