Note: Elizabeth Dees is listed as the guardian for the orphan Mark Dees in 1836 in the Wilkinson County Court of Ordinary, Minute Book A.

According to a letter of Joel Toombs Deese IV (descendant of Joel and Mark Deese), Mark and Joel married sisters, Elizabeth and Nancy. They were the daughters of William Lord. In 1835, Joel Dees and William Lord are listed as Administrators of Mark Dees and they are making their return for 1834 in Wilkinson County Court of Ordinary Minute Book A. Marks father-in-law, William Lord, was the guardian of his orphan children in July 1848. Mark served in the War of 1812, in 1 Regiment ( Chamber's ) Georgia Militia as a private.

According to the 1830 census, Mark is listed but no age is given. Only 2 males, 1 age 0-5 and 1 age 5-10, and 3 females, 1 age 0-5, 1 age 5-10, and 1 age 20-30.
