DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships.
It is likely that these
autosomal DNA
test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Gripe and Cripe are the same family. Perhaps you already know this. The spelling on the immigrant ancestor's baptism record was Greib. This sounds very close to Gripe when an English-speaking person says it. I would suggest we leave the name Cripe, since that is what we use today. Barbara's father was John Cripe and her mother was Elizabeth Rench. Those two may already be in wikitree, since John was a son of the immigrant ancestor. I am new at this so don't feel comfortable yet with identifying correct parents when multiple profiles are out there. Please reply if you have questions. Barbara is not my ancestor, but I am researching my branch of the Cripe family and she is in my database.

Thank you for your note. I have worked on genealogies in the past but this is the first time I've tried to do it in a collaborative setting like Wikitree. What motivated me to get involved is possession of a fairly extensive (56-page) compilation of Deeter genealogy prepared by my aunt, Bernice (Deeter) Eller (Deeter-108) some forty years ago. This document agrees very well with existing Wikitree profiles where they overlap, and fills in several substantial gaps as well. Yes, I was already aware of Abraham Deeter (he's a direct ancestor), which shows how far back BDE's compilation goes.
I have one question: do you have a suggestion about how to make a scanned copy of my aunt's genealogy easily available to the Wikitree community?
You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week so I am checking in to see how it is going. The New Member How-Tos are for you to work at your own pace. If you had time to look, were they helpful?
