Ezra was born on November 7, 1808, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was the son of Timothy Delano and Hannah Kempton Delano.
From 1844-45 he served on the Board of Firewards for the City of New Bedford. To be chosen a member of this board was considered a great honor. Ezra was on the Board of Engineers for the New Bedford Fire Department in 1849, 1850; and, from 1851 to 1852, was the Chief Engineer.
Ezra K. Delano was Foreman for Fire Engine “Mechanic No. 6", 61 Purchase Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Second: Ezra Kempton Delano and Arvilla Potter, both of New Bedford, Massachusetts, intentions February 16, 1834.[4] Arvilla was born in Westport, Massachusetts, the daughter of Edward and Betsey Potter. Ezra and Arvilla made their "homestead" at 189 Middle Street, New Bedford.
Arvilla died on January 7, 1901, in New Bedford, Massachusetts.[5]

Timothy, born February 26, 1836; married Sarah D. Keith, October 26, 1865. He died in Ironwood, Michigan, on December 22, 1889.[6]
Louise Delano Doane, born August 6,1840[7]; died 1890
Ezra died on September 15, 1868, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was buried in Griffin Street Cemetery, New Bedford, Massachusetts.[13][14]
Last Will and Estate
Ezra's will was dated and signed August 20, 1868.[15]
It was proved and allowed on November 6, 1868, in the Bristol County Probate Court, and his widow, Arvilla, was appointed executrix.

Arvilla died in 1901, and on January 17, 1901, the legatees under his will requested that William C. Parker be appointed to complete the execution of Ezra's estate. The petition was assented to by:
