Gregoire-Hippolyte Delaroche was one of the most prominent dealers and art experts in Paris at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th. His brother-in-law Adrien-Jacques Joly (1795–1849) was curator of the Cabinet des Estampes at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.

Gregoire-Hippolyte had two sons who were active as artists. Jules-Hippolyte Delaroche (b 7 April 1795; d 1849) and Paul Delaroche (b 17 Jul 1797; d 4 Nov 1856)
