Aah yes Joop I think you could be right it indeed looks like perhaps the Litle was maybe just a typo of the place Lille and the only one that was correct about the place of Birth eeh ?

But it's a great and very interesting find Johan and it looks they had more buurtschappen (hamlets) with names that, if they would be added as places of Birth could be pretty confusing, there also was a Klein Gent also in Zeeland.

And looking at the buurtschappen that (wikipedia) there are some pretty interesting ones. We for example have a van Marle family, a van Wely family and some others with last names that perhaps came from those buurtschappen, so thanks for sharing !

And is there someone who can help and decipher the age that's mentioned at the marriage record for him so we can see if that's correct ?

Thanks for the help everyone it's really appreciated !

Lille, Vlaanderen instead of Litle Flanders.

I think Bea is right, it had to be Lille or in Dutch language Rijssel.

I think its better to remove the misleading text in the biografy, three "wrong" Birthplaces.

Hi,

Same here, no little Vlaanderen, those days it was Graafschap Vlaanderen or County of Flanders and it was a bilingual County. The south around Rijssel (Lille) was Romanesque (French-Flanders), the north and the coastal region spoke Old Dutch. And it was part of the Seventeen Provinces

Added source for their marriage (scan) now, so perhaps we can decipher the place of Birth (or at least where he came from) from it ;)

I think perhaps it's Rijssel ? It also says he was a boratwerker, borate was a certain woven fabric, previously commonly composed of silk and wool. It was used for all kinds of garments, especially for stockings. But also for mantles. (named Huycken or Huiken)

Greets,

Bea

Litle Flanders? Klein Vlaanderen maybe?

I only know West Vlaanderen, Oost Vlaanderen, Vlaams Brabant en Zeeuws Vlaanderen.

Never heard about Little or Litle Flanders.

where is Litle Flanders please? I can find no reference in, e.g. Wikipedia. Nor Little Flanders.

De Planck-2 and De Planque-1 appear to represent the same person because: This newly created duplicate is the oldest paternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. Thanks!

De le plancque-1 and De Planque-1 appear to represent the same person because: The profile De_le_plancque-1 was suggested as a merge into De_Planque-1 in April by Liz. I recently adopted the profile and also believe that the merge into De_Planque-1 is appropriate from the meager information in this profile.
