Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere is a member of the Della Rovere Family.

Francesco was the son of Leonardo della Rovere and Luchina Monleoni.[1]

He entered the Franciscan Order when a young man and after studying philosophy and theology at the University of Pavia went on the lecture there and at other Italian universities.[2]

He was responsible for commissioning the building of the Sistine Chapel and creating the Vatican Archives.[1]
