Biography

Georg Döllinger is said by some to have been born 13 January 1697 or 1698 at Boden, Amberg-Sulzbach, Bayern, Germany; the birth date and birthplace need a source.

"Hans Georg Döllinger" signed a petition in Pennsylvania on 1 April 1728.[1] His 1728 signature agrees with his signature "Georg Döllinger" on his Frederick County, Virginia, will, executed 20 July 1769. George's estate entered probate 6 September 1769. The executors he had nominated declined the responsibility; therefore, Frederick Dellinger and Christian Dellinger were appointed administrators.[2] A lawsuit states George Dillinger died August 1769.[3]

A Find A Grave memorial exists for George Dellinger. There is no marker at his assumed burial site. The memorial quotes cemetery sexton Noah Dellinger (born about 1915) that many graves are unmarked because the original wooden markers deteriorated.[4] Professor Daniel Bly, author and researcher of Virginia Dellingers, states: "George Dellinger lived and died at the original homesite about a mile south of Strasburg, Virginia. His son Christian moved to the Stony Creek area near present-day Conicville, in Shenandoah County. Any claim that George is buried in the Dellinger cemetery at Conicville is totally spurious," 8 April 2019 message to this George Dollinger (Dellinger) WikiTree profile.

Spouse: Catharine Krahenbuhl
Professor Daniel Bly, author and researcher of Virginia Dellingers, states her father was Christian Krahenbuhl (a.k.a. Crabil) of Switzerland.[5]

George Dellinger's Frederick County, Virginia, will names the following children:[6]

  1. Christian Dellinger
  2. Frederick Dellinger
  3. Jacob Dellinger
  4. John Dellinger deceased
  5. Augustine Dellinger
  6. David Dellinger
  7. Sybilla Dellinger
  8. Barbara Dellinger wife of Lewis Setzer
  9. Catherine Dellinger wife of Moses Stricker
  10. Mary Dellinger. A 1788 chancery suit names her husband as Leonard Garrison.[7]
  11. Elizabeth Dellinger
  12. Magdaline Dellinger

Note: Some researchers have confused Rosina Dellinger as George's daughter. Instead she was George's granddaughter. Rosina was the daughter of Christian Dellinger, and named in Christian's will.[8]

George Dellinger lived and died at the original homesite about a mile south of Strasburg, Virginia. His son Christian moved to the Stony Creek area near present-day Conicville, in Shenandoah County. Any claim that George is buried in the Dellinger cemetery at Conicville is totally spurious.

Dellinger-834 and Döllinger-20 appear to represent the same person because: duplicates
The dates and places match, but the wife and daughter connected to the Dellinger-399 profile don't agree with the data in Döllinger-10 and Dellinger-222. Specific concerns: (1) The will cited in Döllinger-10 doesn't mention a daughter Rosina. (2) It doesn't look like he could have been married to the two wives on the different profiles, given the dates.

Dellinger-399 and Dellinger-222 are not ready to be merged because: Newly proposed merge to profile with proper German name supercedes this merge.

Dellinger-372 and Döllinger-10 appear to represent the same person because: Same data
Dellinger-372 and Dellinger-222 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. It seems that Dellinger-222 might be his lowest-number profile.
