Joost DeMaree, (as transcribed), was baptized in the Hackensack Dutch Reformed Church, Bergen Township, New Jersey, on 9 Nov. 1710. In the record transcription, his parents are listed as David Sam. DeMaree and Matie DeBane. Further, the witnesses were Joost DeBane and Elisabeth Drabbe. [1]
Son of David Samuels des Marets and Matie des Marets (de Baun)
Joost married Maria Meyer. He inherited from his father a farm near
Hackensack. He was a member of the Schraalenburgh church in 1733.
He was given the freedom of the City of New York November 21, 1749;
he had probably gone there to live. His death followed the next year.
He was buried at New York September 14, 1750. His widow probably
returned to live in the Schraalenburgh neighborhood as she joined the
church there on confession 1751.

I have added a few sources to an otherwise scant, and protected, profile. I left all of the previously added material "as is". If there are any issues, please let me know.
Thank you for your improvements to this profile, James. Please note that the profile is not project-protected.
Moreover, the presence of the New Netherland Settlers Project account as a profile manager does not in any way indicate that the pre-existing content of the profile has some sort of official blessing. The project has adopted thousands of profiles for people who fall under the project scope. Many of those profiles were unsourced or had serious deficiencies; to improve them, we depend on individual members making incremental improvements (like yours).
And when a profile is project-protected, it does not mean that it is deemed to be practically perfect. Rather, it probably means that there are several different versions of the person's last name (different ones of which may be favored by different lines of descendants), and the PPP is used to prevent changes to the "correct" version of the LNAB (as determined by WikiTree and Project naming conventions).
Once again, I thank you for your remarks and explanation. After just over one year of active participation in the WikiTree process, I have learned so much, continue to adapt to the WikiTree way of doing things, but most of all ... I have learned that the process moves slowly (sometimes painfully so), but the most important aspects are accuracy and validity. I'm trying to make significant contributions each time I "sign in", and have been very active in adopting any orphaned profiles in my personal family tree that are available.
My main interest in recent weeks has been sorting out some of the misplaced information with the Bertholf family profiles that have been confused, combined, or attached to the wrong profiles. I'm making significant progress.
Blessings
