William Anderson Dempsey was born about 1827 in Black Bottom, Logan, Commonwealth of Virginia, son of Joseph Dempsey (~1797–~1880) and Jane Alena Vance (1791–1865).
William died on June 29, 1875 in Black Bottom, West Virginia, United States, aged about 47.[1]
