Family was found in 1860 Pleasant Hill, Fayette, West Virginia Census living with the John A. and Margaret McGRAW family. William was named as Tom in the census and the five oldest children were also listed.
In the 1870 West Virginia Census the family was separated into several different households. Sarah, the mother, was living with the John Neal family.[8] The father was not found, but other children were found in the Elijah and Rachel L. Wood, the Abram Forsythe, and Samuel McGRAW families.
