Another source places her birth in "Emily City" (Imlay City) but her sons say Marion. Her parents were listed as living in Greenwood Township in Clare County in 1900. It's very possible that this is where Florence was born. Marion is not particular far away from there. No birth record for her exists in Osceola Co. which suggests she may've been born in Clare Co.
From the 1921 Lacon High School Tickler: "The class of 1921 and the entire school were startled to learn of the engagement of one of our class, Miss Florence Deneen, with Mr. Carl Budd, of Muskegon, Mich. We are sorry to lose you, Florence, and your absence will long be felt. We wish you a bountiful share of success and happiness."
From the Peoria Journal Star, 8 November 1997:
"LACON -- Florence M. Budd, 95, of 917 Harmony Lane died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at St. Joseph Nursing Home.
Born May 25, 1902, in Marion, Mich., to Frank and Gertrude Spates Deneen, she married Carl Budd on April 2, 1921, in Lacon. He died June 19, 1978. She also was preceded in death by one sister, three infant brothers and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are four sons, Melvin and Vernon, both of Lacon, Jay of East Peoria and Ronald of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Lorance of Mount Vernon.
She worked with her husband at the Deneen River Co. for many years. She also taught in the one-room Tax School in the early 1920s.
She was a life member of the Lacon Woman's Club.
She was a member of Lacon Congregational United Church of Christ and had the longest membership. She also was a member of its Rainbow Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at her church, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Katherine Harding will officiate. Burial will be in Lacon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Nursing Home or her church."

The Ladies Club met with Mrs. Newton Kress for an old day meeting, and pot luck dinner. Those present were Mrs. Bert Douglas, Mrs. Anna McAllen, Mrs. Carl Budd, Mrs. Grover Updike, Mrs. Holford and daughter, Mrs. Meyers, and Mrs. Wheeler at Norway Lake.
